Started in 2004, Berding Consulting has had a variety of clients and projects over the years. Although I generally specialize in web-based systems, Berding Consulting originally started as a training entity showing users how to properly utilize their individual computers and networked systems.

Later, a speciality in FileMaker-based systems was developed as clients needed that skill. I even created several Filemaker-based products, AOM and APL are two such examples. FileMaker is a good platform for developing systems, but lacks the speed and stability required by mission-critical systems.

The much more popular LAMP-based system of Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP is now my favorite development environment. Although the Linux portion of the equation is often replaced by a Mac running OS X, which is just a fancy GUI on top of Linux. PHP's popularity and MySQL's solid performance make for a great pair of technologies that are widely used and easy to work with.

Berding Consulting also works on the occasional web-scraping project and custom integration or setup-assistance projects as well. I can help people figure out how to put the pieces of a website together, and that has proved to be very rewarding.
